Urban Jungle launches new insurance product to shake up industry and help renters

March 2018

London based Urban Jungle, a FinTech startup redefining home insurance for renters, launched an important new product this week. The product helps renters keep their deposit by paying out whenever they accidentally damage their landlord’s property.

The product, known as Tenant’s Liability Insurance, is regularly made compulsory by some letting agents for anyone renting out their properties. These agents often offer the insurance products themselves, but Urban Jungle is seeking to be the online alternative, offering cover at a much lower price.

Urban Jungle receives full FCA authorisation

October 2017

We are pleased to announce that Urban Jungle has today received full direct authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Whilst this will not affect the service we offer customers, it gives us the ability to offer a broader range of services in future.

Urban Jungle’s CEO Jimmy Williams commented:

“This is great news for Urban Jungle and it’s customers. We’re very grateful to our AR Partners Wired Back for their support in helping us launch and begin the process of working with customers under their umbrella, but we’re also super exited about the advantages being directly authorised will bring us.

First, it will give us the ability to offer options for customers to spread the cost of their insurance over the year by paying monthly, which we will be launching very soon. It also gives us greater ability to move quickly in adding new products to our platform, so you should look forward to lots more from us very soon!”

The change takes effect from the 2nd of October 2017.

Urban Jungle completes its angel funding round: A note from our CEO

Jimmy Williams

Urban Jungle CEO

Over the last couple of months, alongside working really hard at building the world’s best insurance business, we’ve been raising some angel capital.

Today, I’m pleased to announce that we have completed our angel funding round, which both injects capital in to the business, and brings with it a wealth of financial services expertise. Our round of funding attracted investment from a set of experienced angel investors, who between them have both a huge amount of experience in the insurance industry, and a track record of starting and scaling hugely succesful fintech businesses.

This is a real endorsement for our vision of re-defining how insurance works for young people, and will support us as we grow the team, navigate regulation, and open the business to customers in the coming months.

It’s great to have our investors on board, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together in the years to come.

Now, back to the real hard work of building a product which our customers love…
